Details

Industrial non-destructive testing is transforming toward automation and intelligence. The KUKA KR120 R2700 flaw detection system integrates heavy-duty 6-axis KUKA robot and gantry truss manipulator to build an integrated ultrasonic inspection workstation. The KUKA KR120 R2700 robot is overhead mounted on the Z-axis slide of the truss. The truss handles large-range spatial movement while the KUKA KR120 R2700 adjusts the posture of ultrasonic probes flexibly via six joints. It can continuously scan curved and irregular heavy workpieces, effectively solving the disadvantages of manual inspection such as poor repeatability, high labor intensity and human-caused result deviation.

KUKA KR120 R2700 robot features strong payload capacity and a 2700mm reach with excellent rigidity, suitable for long-time stable holding of inspection probes. The matched truss has a large working range of 9.5m×4m×1.5m and positioning accuracy of ±1mm, capable of full-surface flaw detection for pressure vessels, large steel structures and heavy castings. The system integrates path programming, real-time data acquisition and defect recording. The whole inspection process runs automatically with traceable data. It improves inspection efficiency while maintaining high accuracy and meets strict quality standards of special equipment manufacturing.

The KUKA KR120 R2700 robotic flaw detection system adopts modular design, easy to integrate into existing production lines and supports long-hour continuous operation. In heavy equipment manufacturing, robotic inspection has become a vital tool for quality control. It reduces human error and labor cost, and provides standardized robotic inspection solutions for non-destructive testing in high-end manufacturing with stable and reliable automatic performance.
